How I got into amateur radio
Sometime in the late 70s I was introduced to CB radio through a classmate of his father. After years of CB, I was also aware that I had to legalize my crafting activities. This is how I got my first amateur radio license in 1993, which was then Class C. After a little over two years of VHF/UHF/SHF SSB and practice in CW, I then took the extension exam to what was then Class A. At that time, I also bought my first Morse key from HIMOUND, the HK706, for the test, which ended up in the accessories and craft box after the test. After almost 30 years now, I have decided to relearn, refresh, and deepen my CW knowledge in order to hopefully become a reasonably good CWist. My small CW key collection, one of which is even older than me, see the pictures below. According to the serial number, the BUG from Vibroplex is from 1960 and has been restored and overhauled by me in order to be able to put it back into operation. I love these old keys.
